A student may be excused for a temporary absence resulting from a visit to health-care professionals if that student begins classes or returns to school on the same day of the appointment. A note from the health-care professional must be provided to the school office upon return of the student to school. A student whose absences are excused for these reasons may not be penalized for those absences, and they will be counted as if the student attended school for attendance purposes. The student will be allowed a reasonable time to make up the missed school work.
